Storm paused a look of hurt crossed her features, she hated seeing him like this, and the only way she knew that would help, would only make things worse. She leaned against the tree sliding down seating herself on the ground her arms wrapped around her knees.
“The answer to that is… impossible to come up with; my own mind is sometimes even an enigma to me.” She was scared to look up; the distance between them was driving her mad her nails digging into her arms.
"Tell yourself I'm insignificant, it might make it easier to ignore me." she muttered darkly.

"I already tried that, Storm," Chase confessed, throwing his arms out at his sides. "I hurt you, I told myself it didn't matter, and then I dreamed about you." He swore again at hearing himself. "Maybe it's better," he thought out loud.
Chase turned to look at Storm, and his chest constricted painfully. "You deserve so much better than this." He knelt next to her, prying her hands away from the damage she was doing. "It's not you," he said. "I'm just another guy who screwed you over, and you don't deserve it. Forget me." The words were almost pleading.

Her heart clenched painfully, she remembered how she told herself that she didn't need him, just another guy she met, but she painfully shook her head looking into his eyes.
"I'm sorry... I can't do that." she looked away feeling horrible about herself, his gaze penetrating through the side of her head.
"Because, I feel like you are worth it, its me who has a problem." she bit her lower lip retraining herself from screaming out in anger.

"Don't. Don't hurt yourself, not over this. Not over me." He wouldn't ask her to wait this time. It had to be over. There could be no thinking he wouldn't be found out, no thinking he could have them both. God, he wanted to kiss her again, to hold her and comfort her in the only way he knew how, but he couldn't. Not again. "I can't do this. I'm sorry, Storm, I'm so sorry." Chase pushed to his feet, trying to distance himself from the compulsion to repeat the past.

She wanted to scream out for him not to leave her, not to walk out again, but the other side of her held her back her eyes downcast on the ground. She began chaining herself up, putting up all the barriers she built, her eyes going dull grey as she looked up to him with a blank expression. She wouldn't hold him back or feel anything she hated her emotions that she would learn to ignore them.
"I could care less." she lied her voice monotone as she pushed herself up turning her back to him she wasn't sure how she was able to respond or move as her mind shut down.
"Run along, we wouldn't want your little China doll to gather dust all alone, all guys are pathetic, your all just freaks on a leash." she took a step her hand on the tree as she steadied herself.
