Narkise's hands were shoved deep into his pockets as he strode down the corridor. He wasn't cold, not this far into the castle, but he was in no mood to stop for anyone, and so he let himself project his annoyance, frustration, and deep-seated hurt that, rather than weakening him, set him at a level of tension like a wounded animal ready to strike out.
Not that he intended to strike out. That was why he was headed back to his Common Room. He'd been out long enough to get food, and now he was going to avoid the world again.

Hektor, walking through the corridor after a thorough examination of the castle, saw another boy walking down the corridor, in the opposite direction as he. Hektor quickly glanced upwards, only to see that the other boy's hands were in his pockets, too. However, he also looked like he had something on his mind.
Hektor was about a metre away from the fellow student when he decided to just make his life miserable. Not by much, but enough to annoy him, maybe upset the boy a little bit. So, he bumped his shoulder into the other's. It wasn't much in reality, but the fellow seemed uptight.

Markise hadn't expected the bump, and as it jarred him, a rush of unpleasant memories tore through him. His jaw actually dropped in shock. For one flash of a moment, he debated retreat, but he hadn't forgotten how that had ended before, and though he was sure this couldn't be the same, he bristled anyway. Markise drew his wand. He didn't say a word to the guy, but forced himself to keep moving and went over one spell in particular, just in case it happened again.

Hektor turned around, after being about two and a half metres away from him. There, he saw the boy's wand in his hand. So, he drew his yew-wood wand. It turned out, that, like he, the wand had quite the poisonous personality. And it wasn't afraid to hurt others.
"So its a duel you want, eh? Well, it's a duel you'll get! And by the way, I have killed before. So you just watch your little self, there, or you might get yourself in some trouble, mmkay?" Hektor said, condescendingly.

Markise stood stock-still at that, his heart pounding in his throat. It didn't matter if the guy was serious, and to be truthful, the idea he might not be never crossed his mind. Markise had no clue how to get out of this, all he could think about was that night he'd gone down the wrong corridor. He wanted to run as fast as he could, but he knew that in a corridor this narrow, there would be no dodging a spell.
Markise turned slowly, keeping his wand at his side in a nonthreatening position. "I don't want to fight," he said, trying to keep his voice from shaking. He refused to be an easy mark again, even if he knew that he was.

Hektor cackled - although it seemed like an eerily cliched thing to do at such a time, it turns out that it was an involuntary reaction among those in power. "You definitely did not walk down the right corridor tonight, did you?" He really felt like releasing some of his inner rage. And this guy definitely seemed like the right... victim.
"Now, the question is... what do I do to you? I know I want to do something... but what? Any suggestions?" Hektor quietly laughed to himself. Usually its not common practice to ask the victim how they want to be treated.

Michael had been floating since the holidays, but when he heard a distant, was that a cackle? his eyebrows had come together. He knew that it would have been better for him to leave and ignore it, he also knew that his protective side wouldn't let him do that if something could be happening. The sight that greeted him certainly hadn't been expected. It made the ring on his finger burn and weigh heavy on his skin and he tucked his shirt behind his wand handle as he walked up behind the guy talking to Markise. He stopped between the two and off to the side, and looked between them, "What's going on?" he asked without preamble.

Markise's already widened eyes widened just a bit further when he saw Michael. He'd been an instant from using Ariel's zapping spell on the guy's groin and running, despite the obvious lack of wisdom in the actions. "I was just... going to the Common Room," Markise managed. He didn't feel like saying the rest and getting his ass hexed before Michael could draw his wand, so he closed his mouth after that.

"Don't get involved, got it, guy?" Hektor snarled at the new-comer, while continuing to point his wand at the first boy. "If you get involved, both of you just might get hurt." Hektor's eyes blazed with an inner fire when he said that to the new-coming fellow. He didn't want this other boy getting involved - he looked like he could put up a fight... and Hektor wasn't in the mood for a work out.

"It's Michael," Michael pointed out, his hand moving to his wand and drawing it, though he kept it by his side. "I really don't care to be in a fight," he said, "But I won't hesitate to do it if I need to." Markise still wasn't his favorite person in the world, and he didn't know how the ring would change things, but he wasn't about to let some guy beat up on Markise. If Markise had the same level of wand skills as Dare, he didn't have a chance.

Markise was afraid to make any sudden moves, lest the guy attack him anyway. He was infinitely grateful to Michael, but what if the guy hadn't been kidding about that killing people thing? Oh my God. Dare would murder him in cold blood if something happened to Michael. His fingers tightened around his wand, as little as he could do with it.

"So what, you two are going to come at me at once? I hope you two realize it doesn't take two spells to incapacitate two people. And once you are unconscious... I would have the time to kill you both with two different spells." Hektor cooly said, even though his rage so hot it could boil mercury.
His wand hand was twitching - ready to do the motions to kill, incapacitate, stun, or anything of that general nature.

Michael just kept himself from rolling his eyes. He hated when people tried to flaunt their skills, it usually meant they weren't very good at all. He clenched his jaw lightly before speaking. "You would have some very angry people after you if you killed me," he said, thinking over the admittedly short list of names he could think of, not that he thought he was in any real danger of death. "Why don't you put your wand away and go on?" he suggested, tightening his highly sensitive left hand around the dark wood of his wand.

It was only at the thought of those very angry people that Markise remembered the Mark he'd seen so briefly on Michael's arm. His eyes couldn't widen any further without making him bug-eyed, but his fear for Michael wavered a bit. He'd told himself over the past weeks that he'd imagined it, but... very angry people. Death Eaters? Markise suddenly wished he'd talked to Dare like he'd been meaning to.

"You know what? No. I am angry, and I will be d-mned if you stop me from letting that anger out.... As a matter of fact, you will be d-mned too, considering you probably won't be going to heaven." Hektor was being irrational, but he wanted what he wanted, and he will get it. Whether they like it OR NOT.
