Ariel's eyes darkened and he shook his head, "No, I don't hang out with nutters like him." He raised an eyebrow at the guy, and then gave Brindle a look of disbelief. "He thought I was sneaking up on him or something and freaked out. Kind of like a puppy." He tilted his head at the guy and then looked back at Brindle through his hair.

Brin felt very strange talking about someone as though they weren't there, but he wasn't speaking, just watching. Maybe he was mute? She hoped that if he was that he could read lips, because she didn't know a bit of sign language past I love you and spinach makes me vomit. She faced him a bit better to ask, "What's your name? I'm Brindle." He'd waved at her before, so maybe he'd just been intimidated by Ariel.

Kenneth watched the girl's lips move, and then turned around, all the while snapping his fingers in a rythmic way. "I'm... uhh... I'm... Kenneth." Kenneth tried to do some sort of thing he had noticed earlier - something that involved moving the hand in some direction... but he failed - miserably. Instead of waving his hand horizontally, he moved it forward and backward, over and over again... he thought he looked perfectly normal doing that.

"Mad is what he is," Ariel muttered under his breath, then raised his eyes to Brindle. "Shouldn't he be in an asylum or something?" he asked, barely doing more than mouthing the words. Then he shook his head and tucked his hands deep into his pockets. He couldn't believe he was still standing there, it was too cold to be standing there with some guy that was incessantly snapping his fingers. "Would you stop?" he snapped, whipping his head around to the guy, Kenneth.

Brindle's eyes widened a bit at the tone of Ariel's voice, and she shot a sharp look aside at him. She agreed with him that the boy should be somewhere he could get more personalized care, but she at least felt bad for thinking it. People who were... off couldn't exactly help being that way, could they? Brindle's brows knitted together a bit, though she tried to keep her face light and friendly. She didn't connect his odd hand gesture with her earlier wave, but thought it was linked to his other obsessively repetitive movements. "Can we... help you find something, Kenneth?" she asked. The nurse, maybe?

"No. Don't need anything. But a jacket might be nice." Kenneth didn't realize that the others may be cold too. So, he looked towards Brindle's jacket. "Can I have yours?"

Ariel blinked. Had the guy seriously just asked to take Brindle's jacket? He stared at Kenneth and then shook his head in disbelief. "I'm going to the Great Hall," he said, turning his eyes to Brindle. "You can stay with the nutter as long as you want, but I'm leaving." He flicked his eyes back to the guy and shook his head again as he started to walk.

Brindle's eyes widened at Kenneth's question. "Um, I'm going to just keep my jacket," she told him, taking a step backward. Yes, she could take care of herself, but the idea of having to fight a guy who looked like he didn't even know where he was just struck her as wrong. "I... nice meeting you, Kenneth," Brindle said. She gave one last glance at the guy, then turned to go after Ariel. "Logan, wait up!" she called.

Kenneth's jaw dropped, his mouth agape. "Why? I am cold..." Kenneth was confused. Either way, though, he decided to follow the other Australian inside, because he was starting to get the jitters from the freezing weather.

Ariel barely slowed for Brindle, and when he noticed that Kenneth was following, he narrowed his eyes and quickened his steps. He didn't want to be around the guy, he was a nutter that belonged in a crazy house. After a few steps, he abruptly turned. "Do not follow me," he growled, glaring at the guy, then turned and continued his quick steps.

Being followed didn't do anything for the creep factor Brindle was getting, either. She felt bad about the way Kenneth was getting treated, but was still worried about what he might do if they were left alone. It was possible that he'd just keep doing those strange repetitive motions, but what if he decided to take her coat? She would defend herself, and she'd feel terrible if she actually hurt the guy. He said he was cold, though. If he kept following her and Ariel, he'd end up back in the castle, and then maybe whoever was supposed to be looking after him would find him.
