Ariel snorted, "Well I definitely didn't steal it." No, he had earned the money, fair and square, even if he did regret it, at least parts of it. "And what do you mean that kind of money? You don't even know how much I have." All that was important in Ariel's mind was that he hadn't done anything to Markise and hadn't let anything happen to him, Dare should have been thanking him.

"The exact amount doesn't matter. I don't give a flying f~ how much it is, it wasn't some random gift of kindness! TELL ME!" Dare's voice had risen to a dangerous level, and he took it back down, though the intensity still showed in his eyes. "How did you get that money?" he asked. Maybe he should transfigure something right now to show Ariel he was serious. He could do the fish again, that had worked on Soren, but what if Ariel told? What if he got in trouble with the Ministry? Something little, then. Dare's mind ran wildly.

"Why the hell does it matter?" Ariel asked, uncrossing his arms in aggravation. "I have some money, who cares? You shouldn't, Markise is safe." He stared at Dare for a moment more before looking away. He saw no reason to tell Dare what he had done to get the money, he didn't want to tell him, didn't plan on doing it, even with the wand pointed at him. He could live with the wand, and he knew that he could probably beat Dare in a fight, even if Dare was taller.

"It matters because Markise is already attached to you, and I'm not letting him get jerked around again!" Dare said sharply. "It matters because I want to know what kind of low-life creep he's hanging out with! It matters because I'm the one with the f~ing wand!" Dare flicked his wand to elongate Ariel's ears, to stretch them up through his hair and sprout golden brown fur the same shade. Rabbit ears were a basic, but this was a warning. He could do far more, and he'd gone too far to turn back now. He wasn't letting this go until either he knew, or something stopped him, and it wasn't going to be Ariel.

Ariel's mouth opened and he reached up to feel rabbit ears in his hair. "What the hell?!" he asked, his eyes blazing angrily. "Take these off, right now!" he demanded, taking a threatening step forward. He would fight Dare, with or without a wand, but he didn't appreciate having ears like that. He refused to tell Dare how he had gotten the money, he would wrestle his wand away.

"Tell me what I want to know and I will!" Dare countered. The wand dropped for a moment, and he concentrated fiercely on turning Ariel's shoes into cement blocks. He didn't want to fight. He just wanted to know... What was it? Why had he done all this? What had happened while Markise was out? Markise is safe. Yeah, but what about next time? What else had Ariel done to Markise, or with him, like it made a difference? He was getting dragged around by some cocky a~hole, but he wasn't getting any support! There was too much coming at him again, worse than when he'd hidden himself away in the bathroom, or maybe it just seemed that way because he was standing, he was holding a wand on someone. What was he doing?

Ariel had gone to take another step towards Dare and try to figure out a way to get his wand back when his foot had landed heavily on the floor. He stumbled, arms flying out as he tried to catch his balance, then he turned angry eyes up towards Dare, oblivious to whatever it was that Dare was going through. "Are you f~ing serious! Stone shoes? Come on, you can't even fight!" He tried to pull up one of his feet, succeeding only in losing his balance again and holding his arms out to catch it again.

Dare was pulled from his thoughts by the sharp sound of Ariel's voice. "I told you I didn't want to fight!" Dare reminded him, trying to catch his train of thought. "I just wanted to know... I wanted to tell you..." What was it?! He shook his head, trying to get his brain to work, but all he accomplished was a soft, butter-yellow fringe swinging down into his vision. He panicked at the wash of memories it brought and staggered back, stopping against the nearby wall. "I just want you to... leave him alone! He doesn't deserve it!" Everything was mixing together again until Dare couldn't see anymore. He slid down the wall, his wand hand resting on the floor as he tried to cope with it all at once.

Ariel glared, "He's a big boy, he can make his own choices and mistakes. Maybe you should fight! Really, that would make so much more sense than rabbit ears and stone shoes!" Maybe Ariel just wanted to fight, though. He just wanted to go to sleep and there Dare was trying to be all noble and save Markise when he didn't need it. He narrowed his eyes and looked around, trying to figure out if the chair was close enough to reach and pull close.

Michael woke up from his first dream since the fight shaken and looking around for Dare. "Dare?" he called out, not knowing if he was back yet from Grey's. All he saw was an empty room and an open bathroom door. He shifted in the bed, sighing and deciding to try sleep again, only to notice another form wrapped in a dark cloak.
Panic swept over him and he sat up instantly, patting frantically around for his wand. He crept out of the bed, uncaring that he was in nothing but boxers and a bandage, and over to the figure. His eyes widened when he realized that it was Markise and he stared, dumfounded, before he reached out and grabbed Markise's shoulder to shake him awake.

Markise's eyes shot open before he was even really conscious of what was going on. He had to struggle to focus, and when he did, it was on Michael. Markise blinked several times as he worked to pick up his head, trying to slide into some sort of upright position. "Aren't you supposed to be sleeping or something?" he asked, one hand rising to sift through his mussed hair. He blinked as he realized that Michael was in his underwear, but made himself look away, satisfied in knowing that he'd been right about what was buried under all that flannel.

"Why are you here?" Michael asked, his wand tight in his hand as he tried to catch his breath from his brief moments of panic. He winced slightly and put a tender hand over his chest. "Where's Dare?" He turned his eyes around the room wildly, trying to figure out what had happened while he was asleep. What had happened to leave Markise in his room and Dare gone?

Markise's gaze moved straight to the chair he'd last seen Dare in, but he wasn't there. He blinked at that, then brought his gaze back to Michael at the unmistakable tone of his voice. "Calm down, Dare'll have my head if I let you get all worked up. He was right here, I swear." Maybe things were okay now? "Could you please like, sit down or something? I'll tell you everything I know. He probably went to get food or something." At least, Markise hoped so. There had been that guy, hadn't there?

"He promised he was going to go get something from Grey," Michael said, ignoring Markise's attempt at making him calm down. But that didn't make sense, if Dare had gone to do that, then why would Markise be in there? "Why are you here?" he asked again, focusing again on Markise as he tried to figure things out through the increasing pain in his chest that had been fought back by the small adrenaline rush.

Michael wasn't sitting, nor was he calming down, so Markise decided to just answer his question, and quickly. "Me and Ariel had been... out, and we were going back through that bar downstairs? And Dare like, knocked me over trying to get out the door, or I probably wouldn't have known it was him. Then this guy was at the bar talking to that big bartender guy and asking about a redhead and a kid with colorful hair and it had to be you guys, but..." Markise gestured to his own multicolor hair. "He said I could stay here while Ariel went to the bank. When I went to sleep Dare was up in that chair playing guard dog." Markise was a little breathless from that rapid-fire explanation, but if it got Michael to stop panicking, he was happy to do it.
