"Be afraid; be very afraid," Dare said, already moving after Michael, slowly, but deliberately. His hair was already starting to curl up, and appearing slightly shorter for it. Dare's eyes were focused, if laughing, and the result was unmistakable mischief in the moment before he took a quick breath and ducked underwater again. If a dunking wasn't enough, he'd just have to try it again; Dare caught Michael around the waist and dragged him under once more, grinning all the while.

Michael watched Dare while he could and then saw the shape moving towards him. He stole a breath just before he felt Dare grab his waist and pull him down. He wrestled his way up for air, on the edge of breathing in water from trying to keep from laughing. "Poor Dare, your hair will dry," he argued, his eyes darting over to the strangely curled hair before he started to pull away to keep from sinking.

Dare was still grinning; he was mostly over his hair for now, but it was as good a reason as any to keep going. "Yeah, it'll dry... into a mess," he said, still keeping up with Michael. "And I still owe you for it." They hadn't even been at this as long as it took to get his hair the way he liked it. Dare raised one hand out of the water and crooked his finger in gentle summons. "Come 'ere, Michael," he called, the words lightly taunting.

Michael shook his head, his lips curved up and his eyes sparkling with unvoiced laughter as he watched Dare. "I'm fine right where I am," he said, shaking his head again as he treaded backwards slowly. "You can get over here just as easily as I could get over there." He raised an eyebrow in challenge to Dare, if it was so important to get him back, Dare could come and do it, Michael wasn't going to go willingly into it.

Dare arched an eyebrow right back at Michael, though the gleam didn't fade from his eyes. "You're right, I can," he said, then lunged through the water, fully intending to drag him under again. He took a deep breath the moment before his arms closed around Michael's waist, pulling them against one another. They were both going down this time, but it was going to be worth it.

Michael's eyes closed and he took in a deep breath the moment before he fell into the water, the sudden feel of Dare pressed against him dangerously distracting when he had to keep in his mind that he couldn't breathe under the water or that he needed to attempt to get back up to the surface. His arms went automatically around Dare, as though it would help him stay above the water, though logically he knew it wouldn't work. A few seconds passed before he pulled his arms away and pulled to the surface.

Dare had only been thinking of pulling Michael under, of continuing the game, but that moment of full contact with only soaked cloth and water between them had been a jolt. Then Michael's arms had been around him, and Dare had forgotten he needed air, had forgotten they were sinking. The moment before he would have brought his lips to Michael's, he'd slipped away, leaving Dare with lungs screaming just as loudly as his body. Dare pushed himself to the surface, taking deep, gasping breaths of the warm air. He looked at Michael, knowing he'd felt the moment too, and as he treaded water, wondering if Michael wanted more as much as he did.

Michael watched Dare for a few moments as he tried to catch his breath again, then pushed forward the few feet between him and Dare to give him a soft kiss before starting to work his way back towards more shallow water where he could touch the ground. The contact had been new and stimulating, if very intense, and his body tingled. "Do I still owe you?" he asked, the smallest of smiles coming to his lips.

Dare's lips were still thrilling from that brief kiss, and he followed Michael without a single thought toward trying to dunk him again. That question and that teasing smile brought a smile to Dare's lips as well, and it took some effort to bring his eyes back up to Michael's. "Maybe a little," he said, one corner of his lips curving just a bit farther with the words. He wasn't about to say no when the tension was so high between them.

Michael's smile widened and he raised an eyebrow. "What do I owe?" he asked, his voice light over the underlying tension he could feel beginning to build. He felt his toes touch the muddy bottom of the lake and he slowed to a stop, his arms still moving slowly through the water as he watched Dare. His eyes sparkled in laughter at the odd sight of Dare with curled hair, but he couldn't keep his eyes from straying to his lips and eyes.

"I don't know," Dare said, though the words sounded more like an introduction to a proposition, when paired with his glittering green eyes. Dare swam closer to Michael, realizing they were close to shore even before his own feet touched ground. "A kiss might help soothe my pride," he suggested, his eyes dropping to Michael's lips. He was incredibly close to just giving in and taking one, but he'd give Michael the next move. His gaze rose again as he drew closer to Michael, the memory of that moment still heating him, along with anticipation.

Michael debated refusing to give in, but he knew how useless it would be to even try, so he didn't spare it more than a passing thought before leaning in. "I can pay that," he said, grinning before pressing his lips to Dare's. He brought his hand up to Dare's side and moved closer to where their chests were just lightly brushing in the water.

That slight motion felt like so much more with the water sliding between them. Dare's feet found solid ground--or solid enough ground--as he moved forward, and so he let his hands slip beneath the water to wrap around Michael. His lips parted, deepening the kiss, inviting more as his hands spread against Michael's back, taking in the water-slick skin and the muscles beneath. It was amazing how something so simple could start such heat inside him, how such a small change could make it so intense, right from the beginning. Dare took it slow, didn't demand anything, but he wanted, all the same.

Michael's skin tingled and shocks ran through him from the feel of Dare's skin on his, and he moved his hand farther around Dare as he brought the other up to the wet, curled hair. It was odd, feeling those curls where he was so used to the silky smooth straight hair, and he intended to explore it thoroughly before he thought of moving on to something else. He tilted his head into the kiss, wanting everything without a thought that someone could be watching.

The moment was incredible, amazing, but it had only just started, and so enough of his mind was still working that he heard the rustling in the brush from the nearby shore. There was only one reasonable path into the secluded area he and Michael were in, and it was just long enough that Dare was able to pull back without having to push Michael away. Still, his eyes were hazy when he breathed, "Someone's coming." One last quick kiss, and Dare pushed back into the water, trying to cool himself by treading water. He looked to the shore then, waiting for whoever it was to appear.
