Dare's eyes widened slightly at that, and his gaze moved straight to his brother. When had anyone said anything about love? Dare had several bad feelings about this, but couldn't decide which one to confront first. "What are you talking about, Silver?" Who had he been talking about? When had Silver, Mr. Oblivious most of the time, started listening to rumors? And not only rumors, but rumors Dare hadn't even heard. Had Michael ever said he'd loved someone? Emily occurred to him, but that was an educated guess, judging by the lengths Michael had gone through to save her, and something like that wasn't a take it with a grain of salt kind of occurrence. "Who have you been talking to?"

Silver lifted his gaze to Dare. "Anna," he answered simply. Surely if Dare knew so much, then he'd know that name, and Silver didn't need to explain. "She loves him, and she thinks...or she thought he loved her. He told her he did, when he was dumping her for you. She can't move on because he she's wondering if he does. So either you guys are a lot closer than you said, or he's one of those people who throws love around like it's just a word. Anything to say to that?" Silver had seen how hurt Anna was, and it upset him knowing that Dare was so casual about having been...whatever he'd been with Michael before he'd dumped her. He didn't want the same thing to happen to Dare.

Dare was in mild shock, trying to put together any pieces explaining away what Silver had said. Michael had loved Anna? Dare couldn't think that Michael threw words around like that; he probably could have said it to Dare here recently and he'd have believed it, but Michael hadn't said it, and Dare couldn't imagine him saying it. But he'd said he loved Anna, and he'd left her for him. That was a lot to take in, and too much for him to figure out on his own.
Dare shook his head. "I don't know," he said honestly. "I mean, he's like, one of the best friends I've ever had. Even Markise...we weren't this kind of close, so it's different, but no, there's...we haven't talked like that. So don't worry about it, Silver. I'm cool. I'll watch out. Feel better now?" He wasn't as cool as he hoped he looked, but really, this wasn't Silver's problem. This was his, and maybe Michael's.

Silver watched Dare, knowing there was more than Dare was saying. But if Dare didn't want to tell him, he couldn't drag the information out. He'd just have to trust that Dare would take the information and use it well, that he'd be more careful now that he knew. No, Silver didn't feel much better, but he'd done what he could with Dare, and he had to be satisfied with that, even if he wasn't. Silver didn't answer Dare's question, a silent delcaration that he wouldn't say any more right now, though he wasn't letting it go. "I haven't seen you around lately," Silver said, changing the subject, though all the tension from the last one still remained.

Dare only just repressed a grimace. Somehow he'd hoped he could escape to lick his wounds and think, but Silver had managed to pick up the next worst current topic to bring up. "I've been busy," he said. A massive understatement, and one he hoped Silver wouldn't follow up on. "With Michael," he added. Hopefully that would be enough to stop that line of questioning. Silver didn't need to know about his excursions to Hogsmeade. And at the moment, Dare didn't particularly want to think about them.

Silver's gaze dropped again. "Oh," he said, then let out a short sigh. He didn't want to press for more. He was done talking about Michael for now. "I guess I'll let you go, then. I've got...things to do." Like sit in the forest and brood over his journal. Silver didn't want to stick around and try to make things right. It'd blow over somehow, like it always did.

Dare nodded, his gaze shifting back the way they'd come, back toward the portrait hole. "I'll see you around," he said. For now, he just wanted to be alone. Dare turned back toward the Common Room to get his sketchbook. He'd stopped carrying it with him because of everything that had been going on; he just hadn't had the time lately, but today, he needed to draw. magikal05.proboards46.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ror&thread=3571

Silver glanced up at his brother as he turned away, heading in the opposite direction, as sure as he could be that his brother was off to do more or less the same thing he was. Silver already had his journal, and was grateful for it as he made his way to the front of the castle.
