Silver nodded, but could not seem to find the words to tell his own story, or Dare's. His gaze lowered, off into the leaves scattered across the grass on the forest floor. "It's easy to...blame yourself," he said, choosing his words carefully. "It's easy to think...they died, so why shouldn't I have died?" He shook his head lightly. "You can't do it like that. You have to think, if they loved you, they'd want the best for you. They'd want you to remember them the way it was before they died. No one else knew them the way you did. You die, the memory dies."

Cassie looked up at Silver, an odd expression on her face. "My time with Julius was the best time of my life." she said softly. "I can't imagine a happier time, or one more full of love, than the one I shared with him. I need to honout his memory by continuing to love life" she finished quietly. They were just words, easy to say, but the were the first, tiny step to her healing.

Silver's eyes met Cassie's, and though he could see how hollow the words were, he nodded, hoping to encourage her. All she needed to do was live, act as though she believed the words, and in time, she would believe. In time, the grief would settle enough for her to live for herself. "You'll have to take care of yourself," Silver reminded Cassie. "Go to the Great Hall at mealtimes and eat something, okay?"

Cassie nodded, although even at the thought of food she felt ill. "I'll try," she said honestly, not wanting to disrespect Silver. He really did mean well for her and he was a great friend. "Thanks for giving me a shove in the right direction" Cassie said softly, looking up at him, gratitude evident in her eyes.

Silver looked into Cassie's eyes for one lengthy moment, trying to judge the truth of her words. He wasn't entirely satisfied, but there wasn't really anything else he could do besides what he'd already done. "You're welcome," he said simply. He'd given her what advice he could think to give, but it was really up to Cassie whether to follow it. He hoped, for her sake, that she did.
