Adara hardly felt Cleo. Her mind was retreating, refusing to imagine even as she knew. She knew what he meant, what he implied, and somehow, she knew that he would. She pulled a sharp breath as she dragged herself from the comfort of her own mind, refusing to allow herself to retreat to her private world, though everything inside her wanted desperately to retreat. Adara blinked, then blinked again, trying to focus on something, and only then feeling Cleo's soft warmth. "I must write to him," she said, pulling away from Cleo. She could not think, though, and her hands wrung against one another in indecision.

Cleo drew away and resumed her pacing, regardless of Adara's opinions or conclusions of her restlessness. Her mind was racing, was there any way she could stop it? She didn't think so, but maybe it was within her power to help in some way. She sighed, Adara would have to place her trust in her.

If Adara had been frightened before, she was terrified now. It is already too late. Come, and I may spare him. Had the Headmistress's spells failed? Or had Emilian left the safety of his shop? Adara's hands wrung together, but all she could think of was a few words of her father's note; It is already too late. That implied that there was nothing she could do, and in truth, she knew it to be so. If he had Emilian, and she were to come to him, he would simply take her home. No, her mind rebelled. Schneewittchen was no longer her home.
Adara felt as though she were only going through the motions as her hands composed her final note, praying all the while that she had made the right decision. I will not come. She was putting all her faith in the Headmistress's spells, all her faith in Emilian having heeded her warning. The owl flew off into the sky, leaving Adara numb.

Cleo watched the owl go in silence and went and sat by Adara, gripping her hand tightly. She didn't know what words to use, how to comfort her so she waited, waited for Adara to say something. The thought that maybe Cleo could help chased round and round in her mind, taunting her.

Adara hardly felt Cleo's hand as her mind began to retreat, to draw toward the dream world which had protected her from so much. But she fought against it, part of her refusing to forget what she had just done. She had refused her father. And put Emilian in danger. Adara pulled a sharp breath, her eyes focusing as, all at once, those two simple facts hit her. "I must find Michael," she said, tension infusing her body. She looked down at Cleo's golden hand against hers as though surprised, then lifted her gaze. "I must find him!" she said again, pleading with Cleo to understand. "He is Emilian's friend, and I need him! Emilian will need him."

Cleo released Adara and stood, she knew what she had to do as well. "Go" she said to Adara. In a moment's thought she gave her the password into the common room, not caring that she broke several rules as she did so. "Fine Michael I have to do something" she said vaguely although she knew that Adara would barely register her words. "I shall send word soon" she promised, hoping it would be good news.

Adara stood as well, embracing Cleo tightly. "Thank you so much," she said, the words so thick with emotion that she was unsure whether they were audible. When she released Cleo, she retrieved her journal, and in a heartbeat, was gone across the grounds.

"Good luck" Cleo whispered before she watched Adara go. She sighed and headed towards the castle before back out of the castle on her own mission. She had to do something.
