Dare chuckled too, even as his eyes skated over Michael's face, taking in the moment, every detail of light, and etching it in his mind for later use. "Yeah, it's a little surreal," Dare agreed. "Maybe not the last thing I imagined, but..." Dare blinked, brought his gaze back to Michael's. "I didn't really think this far," he admitted. He'd been reminding himself so often that Michael wasn't like that, that he hadn't gotten to but what if he could be?

"Well I spent my whole life not even considering, maybe I should have gotten a clue when Chase and Anna asked if I was into guys," Michael said, grinning. But Anna's name echoed in his mind and he looked away, sighing. "I hope she'll be alright," he said softly. He brought Dare's hand over to his lap and traced light circles on the back with his free hand. He almost felt bad for bringing it up when they were both in such good moods, he shouldn't have mentioned her name.

"She will be," Dare said softly, hopefully. He didn't truly wish the girl any harm; he'd heard little of her but that she'd disappeared, that she'd come back only to announce she'd been with someone else, but so had Michael, and Dare couldn't blame a girl for circumstances he didn't understand when he felt no guilt for his own.
He put the thoughts aside, though. There wasn't anything to do about them for now. Dare let his lips curve into their habitual crooked smile. "People asking is nothing," he told Michael. "People at SWIM were convinced Silver's gay, asked me more than a few times, but he's straight as they come." He shrugged, his gaze dropping to their hands. A light chuckle escaped his lips. "I scared the sh~ out of you in the forest, didn't I?" he asked.

Michael let Dare breeze over the subject of Anna and let out a laugh at his question. "I wouldn't say scared," he said, looking up at Dare. "I didn't know what the hell was going on, that's for sure. I mean, I couldn't honestly tell myself I wanted to run in the other direction, was too curious." He hadn't been scared, just confused. With the time after to think about it, to examine everything that had happened, he had made a decision, and the right one, it seemed.

Dare's eyes glittered at all he saw in Michael's, and at the admission that he hadn't read Michael wrong that day. "I thought I'd...misinterpreted," he said. "That's why I went and pretty much told you I wouldn't try it again, I thought I'd just ruined everything." He smiled and brought his free hand up, reaching to smooth a piece of Michael's hair away from his eyes. "I'm glad I was wrong." His smile widened. "Or maybe not, maybe I was right the first time," he teased.

Michael grinned at the strangely comfortable feel of Dare messing with his hair, "I needed time to think, I'm glad you left." If Dare had stayed and tried to make it right then, there would have been a different outcome, it probably would have pushed Michael away. "It's still....." he paused, struggling for a word that wouldn't sound bad, "Different, but I'm glad we're doing it."

"Everything's different the first time," Dare said. "It's cool, I don't expect you to know everything. Even Purist bastards are human." Dare's eyes laughed at that. If there was anything of the Purist left in Michael, it had to have been crushed to dust by now for any of this to have happened.

Michael smiled, it was great how Dare was so accepting of what was going on. "Is this your first time?" he asked, sometimes it seemed like it was, but then Dare seemed so confident that it couldn't be. "Or is this common practice for mudblood bitches like yourself?" he asked, grinning, unable to resist adding in the title. The word still felt dirty on his tongue, he wondered how long it would take for him to be as comfortable using it as Dare so obviously was.

Dare laughed, the title a surprise even after hearing it a couple times. He was grinning when his eyes found Michael's, silently reassuring him that he'd gotten it. "I've never had a boyfriend before," he said, answering Michael's question. He dropped his gaze to their hands before going on. "Let's just say...I've played minor league a couple times, but I never went professional." One brow cocked as he looked back up at Michael from beneath his fringe. If you get my drift, the look seemed to say.

Michael nodded, it made sense. He supposed it was a good thing that one of them knew what they were doing. He faintly wondered how far Dare had went, but that wasn't important, wasn't any more important that Dare knowing what Michael had done, unless they got to a point much farther along than they were now. "Well I'm glad I'm in your capable hands, then," he said, grinning.

Dare chuckled at that, then gave a pointed glance down to where Michael was playing with his hand. "Looks like I'm in your hands," he teased, lifting his gaze again. "Really though, I haven't been past second base on either team..." Dare stopped himself, realizing he was using baseball metaphors. He chuckled. "I've passed the Quaffle," he translated.

"I've done some stuff with girls," Michael said, looking down at their hands. "Emilian always gave me a hard time for my lack of sexual encounters." He shrugged, he had never seen why it was such a big deal that he hadn't had sex, he had never particularly cared to go so far. It just had never been at the top of his to-do list. "I just told him to shove off," he said, turning his eyes back up to Dare.

Dare smirked. "He probably needed to be told." Dare gave a light toss of his head, shifting his fringe a bit in the process. "I don't get the big deal, either. I'm in no rush to catch the Snitch. I mean, hell, I don't have the time or inclination to go running around begging for sex. If it took away from my art, it'd kill me, and art is passion, sex is passion; something would have to give, right?"

Michael shrugged, "It could, you'd have to be with someone that could understand and be willing to work with you on it." He reached up and brushed Dare's hair away so that he could see his eyes better. "But even when I was dating someone I never really cared to go too far," he said, thinking back. Every so often he had went farther than usual, but he had never made it a goal.

It was Dare's turn to shrug. "Well, I guess neither of us has anything to worry about, then." His lips curved. "You know, this talk doesn't usually happen until way later than this, if it happens at all," he observed, eyes laughing. "But if it works, it works, right?" It was so easy to talk to Michael about the things that were normally the trickiest. It was refreshing. It was part of what attracted him so much.
