[Liam McAdam]

Liam felt warm at Simone's touch, yet was still unsure. He nodded at her comment about it not being important. He then heard her ask if he'd like to swim with her. "Um..Sure." he said, smiling before stretching his legs. He stood up and waited for Simone to aswell.

Simone stood up and brushed the grass off of her and took off her sunglass so that she wouldn't have to worry about them. She glanced at Liam and winked before she started for the water's edge. She glanced over her shoulder at him before grinning slyly. "Last one in buys the other a butterbeer," she called as she picked up her pace.

With the grass soft under her feet and the warmth of the sun on her shoulders, Simone was happy. Not only was she outside, she had also met someone she could talk to. It was a perfect day so far, and she hoped that it only got better.

Liam followed her, but quickly picked up a pace when Simone made a challenge. It was not that he did not want to buy the butterbeer for her, it was just that he did not want to seem like a coward and back down. He would have caught up with her, but a sharp pain in his left lung crippled his chance. He had completely forgotten about his handicap and had aggrivated it. In the end, he lost the race and was the last one in. He smiled a bit, a bit glad that he could buy her a butterbeer. "I guess...you win, and I..owe you a butterbeer." he said, his speech hindered by his breathing, which he was trying to relax in any rate.

Simone splashed into the water, letting the coolness glide over her skin. It had been years since she last swam in the lake, back in her first year, so it brought back memories for her. She let herself forget about her problems and worries. Forgot about how Jared was going longer and longer without sending her an owl. With a sigh, she just let everything go and let peacefulness wash over her.

She glanced over at Liam and gave him a playful smile. "Guess you do..." she said, her voice soft as she heard him breathing hard. She cocked her head and wrinkled her nose. "You know...if I take your breath away, I can always cover up..." She winked at him to let him know she was only teasing as she sank down in the water.

As Liam walked into the water and began to swim, he had heard Simone comment and he could not help but blush, regardless if she was joking or not. As he let his body go into the water, he found it easier to swim than last time. He kept feeling a strange emotion, yet did not let this known. "So...how do you like it here?" he asked, trying to make conversation.

Simone smiled as she leaned her head back, letting her hair float on the surface before she righted herself and looked at Liam. "Well...it gets easier every year..if that makes sense. I'm normally all alone in the house back at home, so being here is a lot better. I have more people to talk to, so I consider this more of a home than I do that house I grew up in..."

She shrugged as she swan towards him. "What about you? Do you like it here?" she asked with a soft smile on her face. It wasn't that home wasn't nice for it was...but she got lonely being in the big house all by herself.

As Liam swam, he listened to Simone answer his question. He nodded, understanding her point. He then heard her question. "Well, compared to home, I love being at Hogwarts." he said, his heart beating faster as he noticed that he was closer to Simone.

Simone smiled and nodded, knowing exactly what he meant. She really didn't have a home so to speak and Hogwarts made her feel welcome, like she could come here and know that she would be alright. It was nice. Peaceful. "Home is here....not in London, where I grew up. With my brother gone and my parents and two eldest brothers dead, it's quite empty...."

Liam heard Simone and was shocked to hear about her parents and older brothers dead. Instead of freaking out, he looked down before looking at her again. "I'm sorry..about that..." he said, thinking of the pain that came from losing family. "Believe me...I know how that feels.." he said, more about the family deaths, but still knew that loneliness.

Simone gave Liam a soft smile and shrugged. "I'm use to it..." she murmured. "It's been three years now, but I still miss them." She shrugged as she treaded water, keeping herself above the cool ripples her hands made. She wasn't planning on going out far, just far enough so that she could be completely emerged in the silky depths.

She turned her blue eyes to him and gave him a grin. "So we've covered your name, where your from, and how you like it here....got any questions for me?" she asked with a wink.

Liam nodded slowly so as to give an understanding gesture. It had only been three years for Simone, while he had ten years to cope with it. "Um...I guess I'd like to know more about you...but...I don't know what about you I'd like to learn." he said, blushing in embarassment and continued to tread the water.

Simone smiled as he blushed, but as she thought of what to say, her mind couldn't think of anything to say or ask, so she just floated there, looking around. It had been quite a long time since she just stopped and "smelled the roses" so to say. Every day, she had been caught up in her studies, preparing for NEWTS next term. Shaking herself out of her fog, she turned clear blue eyes back to Liam.

"Well....let's see. My favorite colors are red and black, I have three older brothers, two of which are dead and the other one is gone, so it's just me....I grew up in England my whole life, so I'm pretty boring. Uhm...I have a cat named Sammy Dean. The boys back home call me a tease, which kind of puzzles me, but whatever...anything else?" She asked with a laugh.

Liam smiled a bit as he learned about her. He was still sad to hear about two of her brothers being dead. He did not know what else to ask her, so he just thought for a bit. "Um...I guess I'd like to ask when you'd like me to buy you the butterbeer. I mean, just so I know." he said, knowing he'd live up to his end of the deal. He would probably wind up buying her more than one, but he did not know.

Simone cocked her head and thought for a moment. "Hmmm...well, I guess that depends on when you're free." she said with a smile, making little waves with her hands. Being back in the water was like being able to breathe again. It had been far too long since she last just relaxed and forgot about her problems.

"I mean, I'm usually free in the evening, so it's all up to you..." She shrugged as she said it, making little ripples in the water. Right now, her life was just about as uncomplicated as it got.

Liam thought about this and knew he was free for pretty much the whole day. "Well...how about this evening?" he asked, somewhat shyly about it. He couldn't help it as it seemed that his emotions were somewhat confusing to him.
