A wash of tension released at that small tell of acceptance, or was it only permission? The reason did not seem to matter as the Raven swept into Jack's mouth, reveling at the chance to explore, savoring each taste, each texture and motion. In the Raven's mind, there were no lines to cross that should not be crossed, when the time was right. That time was tonight.

Jack's hand tightened again, the only sign that he was surprised by the sudden intensity of the action. The hand on the Raven's neck tensed a fraction, but he soon was meeting the Raven's motions, loosing himself little by little to the sensation. He told himself firmly that he wouldn't regret it, that he would enjoy it and look back on it with a smile in the future.

The first moments of needful curiosity melted into enjoyment, and the Raven slowed, teased Jack with the motion of tongue on tongue, tempted him to follow. There was only the moment, the kiss said, only the natural ease between them, the ability to enjoy one another with no judgement.

It was so easy, yet Jack was still tentative when he started to do his own explorations. The slight insecurity that was still there showed in how his hand remained tight in the Raven's, but he went on anyway, knowing that it would be worth it. He wouldn't break it off, not when he was still curious, not when he still wanted it.

The Raven could feel that Jack was still unsure, and the mesh-gloved hand swept once more against his cheek before pulling away, shifting between them one brief moment as the hand tangled with Jack's worked the glove free. It fell unneeded to the ground, and the bared hand lifted again, relieved at the feel of skin without that barrier. The kiss softened, coaxed again with that light connection.

That one connection helped Jack, made him more comfortable. Perhaps it should have done the opposite, the contact so direct. But he relished in the feel of the Raven's bare hand against his skin. He returned the kiss a little more confidently, feeding on the sensations of their hands still clasped together and of the new skin on skin contact.

That contact had made all the diifference. It grounded the Raven, was a silent reminder of everything they had already shared, that this was an outpouring of that, an expression of it beyond the physical. The Raven's hand swept lightly against that familiar cheek as they kissed.

Jack's eyebrows came together at one point as the sensations hit all at once. His hand at the Raven's neck wrapped around a little farther, unable to just let it stay immobile on the Raven's skin. He searched the Raven's mouth, sating curiosity and physical and emotional need.

The tension, the intensity, was back at that moment. The kiss deepened, flowed between them with the connection that had begun the first day they had met. The Raven drank it in, every sensation from the warm press of their hands, the heat of Jack's palm at his neck, to the taste of their kiss emblazoning in his memory.

Jack shifted, bringing himself just that small amount closer to the Raven, tension building in his muscles that begged to be released. He couldn't imagine doing anything but kiss the Raven, almost afraid that if he did then something would go wrong, he'd make a mistake and ruin the unexpected feelings running between them. So he made himself content with small motions of his fingers against the Raven's neck.

It was that added tension that brought the Raven's mind fluttering back from wherever it had been. The kiss slowed, slowed, then the Raven pulled away, hand still soft against Jack's cheek as that feathered head lifted ever slightly. The Raven's eyes sought Jack's, shining with awareness, silently asking, what now? Or perhaps only, are you all right?

Jack looked down for a minute, his breath going back to normal along with his pulse, then met the Raven's eyes again, searching. He was unsure, it was mostly still an experiment for him, even if there were emotions attached. He didn't know if he had an answer for the Raven's silent questions, but he didn't pull away, he kept his hands where they had been the entire time. A small smile pulled up the corners of his lips.

It was the more important question that Jack's smile answered. The Raven's lips curved into a wide smile, relieved, thrilled, chest swelling with emotion. "You don't have to make any decisions," the Raven said softly, hesitating to break the silence. "It can just...be what it is for now." The Raven had no expectations beyond exploring their friendship and the strange intimacy that had come with it.

Jack nodded, accepting. What else could he do? He didn't regret it, didn't want to take anything back. "I can live with that," he said, smiling. His eyes sparkled, shining with the activity they had shared, the emotions behind it. That the Raven was fine with leaving it as it was helped Jack to not feel guilty thinking of it as an experiment.

The Raven's eyes glittered in response. One mesh-gloved hand squeezed Jack's, and the other, bare now, swept once more against Jacks cheek before lowering and disappearing beneath the cloak. "So, what else have you done tonight?" the Raven asked, simultaneously lightening what could have become another tense situation and giving them something fun to talk about.
