"Diamonds are hard, yes, but brittle," the pirate said. "If gold bends to diamond, it is stronger for it; the gold is damaged, but intact. If diamond by some chance chips, it has lost something which cannot be gained back." The pirate's eyes gleamed with interest in the conversation, and his eyes skirted over the mysterious Opheliac, taking her in. "The masses may not think of this, but they will not run from such beauty, attracted by it despite its dubious danger. They are not wise for this, and yet, if they were aware, they would do the same, and then would be wise."

She gave a small short laugh in amusement. This was far too fun to give up, it had been quite sometime since someone had given her a stimulating conversation. “That is the reason why the wisest warriors always have a back up weapon. Tell me, what would be yours if you were given the opportunity of wielding a second?” she had a specific one in mind, but she never showed her hand first.

The pirate gave that only a moment's thought. "If my wit is my sword, then my heart is a battle axe, strong and reliable. Beneath this charming veneer lies a warrior at sea, my dear Opheliac."

"I see, a battle axe is powerful, but requires a lot of control. Sai's would be my choice. A weapon used for it's defense, but can strike such a fatal blow if used with a thrust." She wanted to know who he was know. Did she know him? Did he know her? Her mind was trailing over the parts of his face that were exposed, his lips, then his eyes, lingering there for a moment. They were familiar, but she couldn't place who they belonged to. "A rough exterior, but I'm a guarded heart my pirate." she was leaning closer now, her eyes bore into his.

"Caution can be wisdom," the pirate said, his gaze sweeping over the girl again as she leaned close. Perhaps the words were a warning, perhaps they were only words referring to her guarded heart; he left it to her to decide. His eyes gave away nothing as they met hers. The barrier of the mask held him distant from such dangers. His lips curved. "I stand by my weapons," he said softly. "Control may be difficult at times, but it takes as much finesse to wield that control without breaking as it does to wield a blade."

She smirked despite his words. One brow was raised, but was obscured by her mask. "I prefer to live life on the edge. Caution can be wisdom, but can also be a persons greatest downfall when thinking about the what ifs of life." She had turned away from him, her brows were now furrowed, trying to figure out who he was. She felt as if she knew him, or maybe she was being paranoid, he could be anyone from this school. "Would you understand if I were to say that caution has done nothing but cause trouble?" whenever she was 'cautious' life had taken a bad turn for her. An Idea formed in the Opheliac's mind, she leaned in on him over the table, the necklace that was resting on her chest now hanging down, the corset did nothing to help, making it a little bit harder to breath, but she was used to it now. "Or would you rather ponder the wonders of a mystery?" her voice came out in a soft murmur, her lips in a small grin, her eyes boring into his.

The pirate's gaze dropped reflexively to the motion of her necklace, to the temptation that lay just beyond, then rose to the eyes behind the mask. His own, clear blue for the night, focused on hers, and his lips curved. "There is always something to be said for mystery," he murmured. His gaze didn't break from hers, didn't waver for a moment.
