"How would you know?!" he asked, angry that he was being patronized. "It's not just here that I am useless, it has been just about everywhere." he said, his false arm dropping onto the grass. "The only reason I was even allowed to come here was so I wouldn't be useless to my home." he said, before he had many memories of what he had gone through back home. He also knew the only reason he was able to fly a broom was because of his fake arm. "I have to rely on a fake arm just to do the most simple things, and I cant even get that right." he stated, tears forming in his eyes.
After he realized he had just snapped, he looked down. "I'm sorry...I...I didn't mean to snap.." he said, ashamed of how he reacted. He then heard her comment and looked at her, somewhat curious about the whole reputation thing but saw he wink. "It's fine..I won't mention anything about it." he said, basically saying her secret was safe with him.

She quirked her eyebrows at his angry response, but instead of being put off by it, she was actually intrigued by it. She wondered why she couldn't get that angry. She instead of facing up to her anger and pain, she walked around like an emotionless zombie, the Snow Queen who felt nothing. When in reality, she felt all too much. She was surprised when she saw tears forming in his eyes. God, when was the last time she'd cried? Since Kevin's funeral, but even then, she hadn't cried in front of anyone. And it actually moved her to see someone else who could cry. Well, it wasn't like she couldn't cry, but she never cried in front of other people.
"It's okay," she said dismissing his apology.
"But I know a lot more and understand a lot more then you think. Really I should give myself advice though. But, I think you'll do fine. It's the thinking that I'll do fine that I have trouble with," she admitted.
"And maybe one day you will be able to handle that arm of yours with no trouble," she added.

Liam had been surprised that she persisted on the topic and heard her comment about her having doubts about herself and bit his tongue to stop himself from yelling again. "May I ask..why you have trouble with thinking you will do fine?" he asked, putting the false arm back on and moved the fingers slowly to confirm it was linked properly. He was unaware of her emotionless appearence, and was also unaware of her past pain and sorrow. He may not know it, but the two were very similar, yet for different reasons.

Kadie took a deep breath. She wondered how much to say.
"Well...........things have happened to me this past year. Really bad things. And now............well, I don't really know who I am anymore. And the way I have coped is by becoming the Snow Queen, by pretending that I feel nothing. Only problem is, the Snow Queen isn't really who I am. So I don't know, it just makes me wonder how I'm going to make it when I can't even function with any feelings. I'd rather hide behind a mask," she answered honestly.
She didn't know why she was being open. Maybe it was because she was aware that Liam would understand.

Liam listened to every word Kadie said. He was amazed at her being willing to open up to him like this. He understood completely, even though he did not full knowledge of what had happened. It was clear to him that Kadie lost someone important to her, a pain which he vividly understood. "I will not assume everything that has happened, but I know your pain..." he started before sighing a bit. "It's a pain of loss...and lonliness...I have felt it for many years.." he said, his tone soothing yet serious at the same time.

"I could tell that you understood. Maybe that's why I felt like I could say something. Normally I don't. Normally I'm just..............well, the unfeeling Snow Queen. It's easier that way," she replied.
"I'm sorry about..............well, whatever happened to you," she said sincerely.
"But I'm glad that you're here," she added. She felt like she was actually making a guy friend, when she hadn't felt like she could trust guys.

Liam smiled a little. "And I am sorry about..what happened to you." he said, returning the apology. "I am glad I am here aswell...I am glad...I got to know the real you..don't worry..I won't let anyone know if you don't want me to." he said, smiling sincerely. He still felt dizzy from the fire whiskey and shook his head again to try to shake it off. "Does that drink always make people dizzy?" he asked curiously.

"Good. People are supposed to think I'm unfeeling and such," she said with a wink.
She couldn't help but laugh as his question.
"Don't worry, the first time I drank fire whiskey, I was dizzy too. I'm sorry, I should have warned you," she explained apologetically.
"So Liam, tell me more about yourself," she invited.

"Well, It's ok. It does have an enjoyable taste to it." he said, smiling a little. He then heard her invite him to tell her more about himself. He rubbed the back of his head, thinking about what to talk about. "I don't know where to start." he said, laughing a little at himself.

She smiled at his words.
"From the beginning. But you only have to tell me what you want to tell me," she assured him. She wasn't even sleepy. It was probably getting very late, or very early depending on how you looked at it. She laid back in the grass and just looked at the stars, waiting for Liam to speak.

Liam smiled a little. "Ok..I guess I'll start with where I am from.." he said before taking a deep breath. He would not tell her where he was born, as he had very vague memories of it, and it would involve speaking of his parents. "I come from an elven encampment. It is a very peaceful place there. Lush green forests that would sooth any animal. Waters so clear you could see the bottom of the deepest lake. The only source of conflict is a caste system, or a social ranking." he started, having already moved his hair away from his ears.
"Hard to believe there was a need for one. Probably a way to motivate others to better themselves. Physical ability and condition affects the caste one resides in. In my case, due to my...physical handicap..I am put in the lowest caste, where there are a few others. It isn't like it matters to me. As long as things work out ok, I don't care about ranking." he stated, with a sound of optimism.
"While I lived there, I had developed a hobby of playing music on an ocarina. I always played in a secluded area, so as not to disturb anybody. Every time I play a melody, it always seems to move me emotionally. It seemed to be the only thing that made me feel...like I had something keeping me going...It made me feel..like I was never alone to begin with.." he finished for a bit, taking an ocarina out from his robes. It was a beautiful instrument with a sapphire blue color to it. It was slightly visible due to the starlight reflecting off of it.
"The decision for me to come here was delayed by the one who had been to relay the letter to me. It was finally made when I turned fifteen, and..well. When I came here, I was put with the other fifth years after sorting. I do not know why I was picked for Gryffindor however. I'm not really all that brave." he said, having a slight mis-interpretation of what bravery was.

Kadie listened to his words, and wondered what it would be like. She was suddenly very glad that she had her parents, even if she didn't get along with them very well.
"It's beautiful," she said, indicating his ocarina. Music always tended to sooth her too.
"There are many different ways in which you can be brave. I for one, think that you're very brave in just handling your handicap and trying to live a normal life. Not many would even try," she responded.
"So yes, I think they put you in the exact house in which you belong," she added.

"uh..thanks..I think." he said about the comment idicating his ocarina. He the heard her comment about how he was brave and could not help but blush, which was now visible due to the small amount of starlight reflecting off of his ocarina. "Th-Thanks...I think..that you are brave aswell...I mean...even with the Snow Queen as a mask...you still have lived through life, regardless of your pain.." he said, complimenting her aswell.

Kadie smiled as he said that she was brave.
"People think I'm brave because I come across that way. The Snow Queen is apparently not afraid of anything. But I'm glad that you think I'm brave for different reasons," she said with a nod. It was weird that she was letting her mask slide off so easily around this guy. She just felt comfortable around him because he understood in a way that nobody else could.
"So, are you any good on the Ocarina? I'd love to hear you play something sometime," she asked.

Liam nodded, glad that she was glad. He then heard her question. "Well...I do have one perfected song..If you want to hear it...I'll play it." he said, getting a little nervous. People back home ridiculed him for playing the ocarina, and he wondered if it would wind up the same here. "do you..know any spells that can make it so only..you and I can hear it?" he asked, hoping not to get them into trouble by playing the melody.
