Cassie fled into the forbidden forest. She ran through it, going deeper than she ever had before. She had a copy of the paper clutched in one hand and tears were streaming down her face. She stopped after she had been running for nearly an hour. It was dark in the small clearing she entered as the trees were so close together no sunlight reached through the branches. She fell to the ground, exhausted from running and crying. For the moment her tears had dried up as she turned to reread the gossip column which had sent her seeking privacy away from the castle and prying eyes. She read it again, almost choking as fresh tears welled up. She wiped them away and just sat there. She was filled with so many emotions, anger, pain, despair, longing, she was almost numb and she had tuned out of her surroundings.

Lucretia was behind a few trees her eyes scanning the Daily Prophet. Her eyes went wide as a few things jumped out. The last time she had read it, she wasn't paying attention to what was going on, but just read the names that appeared. She looked in front watching Cassie collapse, she had been crying.
Lucretia's brows knitted together, she could see the paper in Cassie's hands and knew exactly why she could sense the waves of depression from Cassie. This wasn't a time of teasing as she walked slowly to the figure. She kneeled down placing a hand on the girls shoulder.
"Cassie dear, will you be alright." her question wasn't asking if the girl was, but rather what would happen to her. Cassie wasn't a close friend of her's but it would be wrong to taunt her at this time, it wouldn't be right.

Cassie nearly jumped out of her skin as someone touched her and spoke. She looked up and saw Lucretia, making her stomach drop. She hadn't planned on meeting anyone. "Do I look like I will be alright! I'm probably going to have to leave, Julius will be fired and we won't be able to see each other again!" Cassie nearly shouted, as she stood up and turned to face Lucretia, shaking with rage, and desolation.

She didn't flinch or move for that matter at Cassie's rage. It was expected and understandable. She stood up as well, Cassie's shaking form only made her get a little bit defensive, she knew exactly what it was like to lose it.
"Come on keep going." she was beckoning for Cassie to take out all the anger, then that would calm the girl down a little bit more, there was no point in reasoning with someone who was absolutely pissed.

"It's just not fair!" Cassie exclaimed, not holding back. She began to pace, not caring that she probably looked crazy to Lucretia. "I'm going to be called a wh*re, slapper and worse. He'll be called a pervert. Just because he's a professor, but there's not even that big a difference. And love is said to have no boundaries!" Cassie said, shouting, numb to the fact that more tears were sliding down her cheeks. "We didn't mean for it to happen, but it did and no one should have the right to take it away. He's going to be villainised just because he's older. I'll be treated as a child, but I'm a woman, they just need to get it through their thick skulls! We should never have started this, I shouldn't have gone" Cassie said then stopped, she was crying to hard after that to talk and she was out of breath. She stood in front of Lucretia trembling for a few moments. "What must you think of me" she whispered, before bowing her head. She had looked at Lucretia long enough for her to realise the colour of her eyes. They were a colour they rarely turned, an almost black green, which normally glittered but now just looked like window's into her soul.

Lucretia didn't say anything, she watched the girls ramblings. She could sense that the anger was slowly diminishing as exhaustion took over.
"I think that you should suck it up. You both knew it was a risk and took it. I'm no one to judge, does it matter that someone thinks your a whore, or if I did, because I don't think your one. Hell I'm no better than you." Lucretia herself had been with the two most talked about guys in the school. Emilian and Chase, and yet no one called her a whore to her face... yet.

Cassie raised her head and looked up at Lucretia, an odd look in her eyes. She sat down again, fearing that if she didn't she would end up on the ground anyway. "How did this happen?" Cassie said softly, not really asking Lucretia, but herself. When she had come here she had been, not perfect, but pretty close, and within two months she had slept around, was having an affair with a professor and was generally acting like a cow. She pulled up her knees and rested her forehead on them, taking deep breaths to try and calm herself down.

Lucretia sat on the floor in front of Cassie. her legs were crossed as she played with a fallen leaf. She didn't answer for a long minute, not sure how she could word what was in her mind.
The question wasn't for her yet, what could she say, she had an answer and might as well have said it.
"It happened when you found your body needing more than it was getting. Really simple, if you 'love' professor Julius, then why are you moping around, does it really matter what that cow Gaby say's?" she raised a brow. So far she had been in all of the more recent articles even if it was just a mention of name, and it never really gotten in her way.

Cassie shook her head. "I don't care what she thinks, or most other people. But what they think will have an effect on everything" Cassie tried to explain what she meant. "Julius was scared enough when he realised what we had done, and nobody else even knew then. What will this do to him?" Cassie's voice dropped to a whisper on the last words. That was what she was really scared about, she realised, she feared that Julius would leave and not look back, that he would just leave her. She looked up at Lucretia earnestly, "I do love him, however wrong people may say it is, and I know he's done bad things in the past, but I do love him" Cassie said, not knwoing why it was important for Lucretia to know this, maybe because she didn't want Lucretia to think that she had just slept with him, but it had been more than that, was more than just sex.

Lucretia shrugged, she didn't really understand how love worked, so she couldn't give advice on that.
"Sorry honey, but this person your talking to will never understand, hell I don't even think love exists anymore." she didn't have love in her family. Not from her mom, her dad, no one. Maybe her cousin, but that only went so far.

Cassie recoiled a little, surprised at Lucretia's cyncism. "Love does exist" she said softly. She fell into silence for a moment, thinking over the best way to describe it. "Love is spring time, all year round, love is butterflies in your stomach every day, love is your heart beating a little faster. Love is the sun always shining, even on a cloudy day and love is everything and yet nothing" Cassie knew that Lucretia might not get that last one, but to Cassie it was simple. You needed nothing to love, you could just love unconditionally, but then if you loved someone, you would give everything for them.

Lucretias lips curled. She wished she could feel some of those things, but instead she shook her head, reality was setting in.
"yes, but love is also hate. Love is the anger you feel when you feel forsaken. Love is every season, portrayed in many different ways. Love... exists, but cruel, and manipulative. Love... may exists, but not in the form you say, but in many different forms." she shut her eyes, composing her thoughts. She wished that the happy life Cassie painted existed, but it didn't and that was the reality of the world.
"It exists, but not the way we want it to, and not the way we see it as... in a different light... a different shadow." she looked down, listening to the silence that had surrounded them. It was peaceful and comforting, not awkward like most of the ones she had found herself in.

Cassie listened sadly to Lucretia, feeling her fairyale dissolve. "Love is the hope that what I said come's true, love is seeing what I said when in reality, we have what you said" Cassie said simply, their deep philisophical discussion was starting to hurt her brain. "Maybe we grew up differently or something" Cassie murmured without thinking as she lay back against the ground, staring up at the trees.

Lucretia nodded, they were definitely raised differently, the two almost clashed but were similar as well.
"I don't think I was raised, it was more like my parents instilled there power to scare me. Only instead they got a rebellious child that would do anything to break away." she shrugged again, watching as Cassie lay down. She returned to her silence, reveling in it.

"It almost sounds as if we grew up in different worlds" Cassie commented, turning to look at Lucretia. "Thanks for, you know, listening" she started awkwardly. "I, uh, don't normally get so freaked out" she said, blushing a little.
