Emilian paused for a second, his whole body screaming in protest to the tingle in his hand where her skin touched his. He took the necklace and pulled his hand away, turning wordlessly to take the set down out of its case and taking the pieces behind the safety of the counter to the register. "The necklace is 400 and the set is 700, a total of 1100," he said, reaching down and pulling out boxes.

Cassie nodded dumbly, her body in shock after the new felings that had coursed through her. She moved over to the counter and placed the coins on it. She looked up at Emilian and questioned him with her eyes which had changed once again to a dark emerald.

Emilian didn't look at her as he put the money away and lay the pieces in their boxes. The set in a single large square one and the necklace in its own rectangular one. When he looked up he didn't like the look in her eyes, it reminded him of Eloise, and that wasn't a pleasant memory. "Thank you, have a nice day," he said with a forced smile as he handed her the two boxes.

"Have I done something that bothers you?" Cassie asked confused. She couldn't help it, she was attracted to him, but she wouldn't do anything about it as she had only just met Emilian.

"No," Emilian said, honestly. She hadn't done anything to him. It was everything that had happened to him the last little bit that made him push her away and be practically rude to her. "Didn't sleep well last night," he bluffed. It was true, and the only explanation she was going to get from him.

Cassie nodded, accepting Emilian's excuse. She picked up the boxes, "Well thank you for all your help, I really appreciate and I'll be sure to come again" Cassie said, smiling almost shyly at Emilian. Cassie walked over to the door and turned again "Thanks" she said again, but although she put her hand on the door, she didn't turn the handle. Cassie bit her lip, she didn't know what made her pause, she felt as if something had happened that she was unaware of, but she wanted to know all about it.

Emilian watched her absently, the way her hips moved caught his eye, but not in the way that they would have just a few days before. He pulled out a catalog to try and keep himself busy, to find something to order and, therefore, not allow him to think about other things. He noticed that the girl wasn't leaving, but he ignored her, knowing she'd leave soon enough.

Cassie couldn't help herself, she may not have a great knowledge of guys, but this one was acting strangely. "Why do you have such a big barrier up?" she asked. Cassie turned from the door and let her hand drop.

Emilian stared at her, "What?" When what she had said sunk in he sighed angrily, how did he get stuck with all of the girls that wanted to get inside his head? "Listen, there's a difference between a barrier and a we just met so why the hell should I tell you all my secrets." He raised an eyebrow and looked back down, opening the catalog.

Cassie tilted her head, "There's also a difference from being polite and refusing to have anything to do with someone except what's completely necessary." she retorted, her eyes turning the stormy grey they did when she was angry. "No wonder I styaed away from guys" she muttered under her breath as she turned on her heel to leave.

"Why should I do more than is necessary as long as you still buy something?" Emilian shot back. "I wasn't rude at all, I did everything you asked." He watched her, his eyes cold. He hadn't been the most polite, either, that was true, and he had an exceedingly good reason to do so.

Cassie stopped in her tracks and looked over her shoulder. "It wasn't exactly a pleasant experience, someone kept away and didn't want to go near me. I'm not asking for a why, I'm simply stating that it's not exactly a comfortable feeling." Cassie raised a brow to challenge Emilian, her dance training kept her back slightly arched and her neck tilted at just the right angle.

"I was giving you your personal space," Emilian said, "Now, unless you plan on buying something else...." he let the sentence finish itself. He didn't really see why it was such a big deal that he had stayed away from her. Some girls would have loved the fact that he didn't stay right on their backs the whole time.

"Your were like a deer in headlights" Cassie said almost disdainfully. Then she left the shop, slamming the door behind her and shaking her head, why were guys so complicated.

Emilian made a very rude gesture after her and went back to the catalog, staring blankly at a picture of an antique pocketwatch. The conversation didn't bother him, but all of the worries from the night before came flooding back into his mind.
