Cassie strolled down the castle steps and out onto the lawns before the lake. It was a beautiful day and she had come outside to explore and take in the atmosphere of the castle and grounds. She had only arrived that morning and hadn't even been notified what house she was in yet but she had felt pulled outside. She gazed around, her green eyes hungrily taking in everything she saw. She went and sat under a tree at the water's edge to see if anyone would wander past.

Kayleigh walked across the grounds down to the lake. She needed a bit of peace and quiet, or maybe a little bit of company. It was a beautiful day and shouldnt be wasted inside. As she drew closer to the lake she noticed someone was already there sitting under a tree. Perhaps it was someone she already knew or if not perhaps a new aquintance. She saw a girl sitting there - she didn't know her. Nevertheless she introduced herself. "Nice day isn't it. I'm Kayleigh by the way but most people just call me Kay" she told he girl.

Cassie turned her attention to the voice and the person to whom it belonged beside her with a smile. "nice to meet you I'm Cassandra but most people call me Cassie" she said, introducing herself.

"Well it's very nice to meet you Cassie" she said, "do you mind if i sit down?" she asked. Kayleigh turned to look at the lake it was beautiful. "By the way i'm Gryffindor sixth year" she said, "now that's pretty much all the introductions i can give" she added. "I'm just going to take a seat anyway i hate standing" she said and took a seat underneath the tree. "This is one of my favourite places to come to think things over.

Cassie laughed at Kay's comments. "I'm a sixth year, although I don't know what house i'm in yet. I only arrived this morning and I haven't recieved my owl. So as i'm homeless i thought I might as well wander down here and explore, then I saw this spot and stopped, its so pretty." Cassie looked around her, a smile on her face as she looked at the delights that the Castle and grounds had in store for her.

"Oh right well welcome to Hogwarts" she said, "I would give you some kind of tour but i haven't really been here that long" she told her. "I'm a newbie like you" she said smiling. "Yeah this place is pretty great. Sometimes if you're here at the right time the giant squid surfaces on the lake. I've only seen it once" she told her, "wish it was more though" she admitted.

Cassie nodded in gratitude for the welcome. "Really?" she asked, excited at the sight of the giant squid. "I'm a dancer" she randomly added, thinking it explained a lot about her.

"Yeah the squid is awesome. Maybe it'll surface i'm not really sure whether it's male or female." she said. "That's random" she said, "but dancing's cool. I danced a couple of times when i wa younger and i always dance and make a fool of myself at muggle parties" she told her.

Cassie giggled, "I was all set to go to a performing arts college with a scholarship for dancing when I recieved my letter for Hogwarts. I delayed coming to train as a dancer, but i finally chose magic over dance. It was a tough decision, but if I keep dancing then I can always carry on when I'm older. I do ballet, interpretive, stuff like that, not modern really" she explained briefly.

"Oh no i cant believe you had to chose. At least with magic you can make them give you the parts you know." he said laughing "I might have chosen the opposite purely because i love the performing arts" she told her.

Cassie shrugged, "I couldn't attend to both, I chose here because I can't learn magic like this when I'm older, my parents have taught me as much as possible, but I need to be here to finish off magic. Then I can dance again" Cassie pulled at a blade of grass and started to fiddle with it.

"That sounds really cool. I wish i could get a scholarship but i had to leave during year 10 and i've been here ever since. If only i'd stayed for the sixth form then maybe i could have lived my dream" she said gazing off past the lake. "Anyway it's nice that you can do both. Im hoping i can use magic for personal gain to chose me in an audition over someone" she said smiling, "it's kind of cheating but i still get my dream" she said.

"Well i was having classical training lessons before i left, i would love to be a musical theatre actress, preferably in Phantom of the Opera" she said, "and then work from there, maybe be in films if i can be bothered" she said smiling, "I am quite lazy though" she added laughing.

Cassie smiled and nodded her head, "I love Phantom of the Opera. As a dancer I can't be lazy, I used to practice for five hours a day along with other studies, lazy people wouldn't survive" Cassie joked. "I do sometimes wish that I could spend all day doing nothing though"
