Adara. The name rung a bell, and Chase realized it was one of those on Emilian's list. "You know what he is," Chase tried, appealing to Adara to be the one who would let someone give Emilian the justice he deserved. "Go back to your common room, Adara. The world is better off without him."

"No!" She stepped in front of the boy, blocking him from Emilian while keeping as tight a hold on his wrist as she could. She was terrified at the look in his eyes, and her voice softened again, though it was highly audible in the stark silence of the corridor. "I know what he is," she said, using the boy's own words to drive home her point. "Let him go. You must trust me. I will trust you, but you must trust me." She released the boy's wrist as a gesture of faith.

Emilian watched, what all had Michael said? Whatever it was hadn't appeared to phase the girl, she was still fighting for him. He kept his wand up as he thought, not wanting to turn and leave just yet, he wanted to see what the response would be. His breathing was finally turning to normal and he felt that the blood had stopped coming. His eyes darted around, but there were no holes in the crowd to let him through, and he wouldn't leave without Adara.

Chase's jaw tensed until his teeth ached. He wanted to do this, wanted to wipe the bastard off the face of the earth and not look back. It would be easy. A flick of his wand, and it would all be over. But in the moment of thought he spared for Adara's words, he realized that she was defending him far beyond Savannah, who had only told him it wasn't his business. Why? It didn't make any sense. Of course, neither did rotting in Azkaban when Adara testified against him. Not that it wasn't still tempting. "He's not worth it." Chase spared one last, fiery glare for Emilian as he turned back toward the crowd. "You're lucky she's here." He lowered his wand, but not before casting one last, highly unpleasant spell directly at Emilian's underpants. Furnunculus. Chase threw up a shield around himself as he walked away, just in case the idiot had the nerve not to let it go. magikal05.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=hospital&action=display&thread=1197930323&page=1#1197930323

Adara stood with her back to Emilian as she watched the other boy leave, her spine rigid, though her face remained serene. The moment the other boy had disappeared, she sank to her knees, worn from her brief physical struggle, but more from the emotional hurricane the entire day had been. She covered her face with her hands, struggling not to let go just yet.

Emilian felt a burning in a very unpleasant spot, but kept his mind enough to use finite incatatem to end it. "Reparo," he muttered, wand aimed at his pants, and then pulled them on, glaring around at the others. "Well, don't you have places to be?" He walked through the Hall, heading towards a corridor that seemed a solace in light of the crowded Entrance Hall. When he came level with Adara, he lay a hand on her shoulder, the most thanks she was likely to get, and walked on past, not really caring if she followed or not at that moment.

Adara's traitorous body warmed beneath Emilian's hand. It was a small reminder of the consolation she'd so hoped for earlier, a small consolation for saving his life. She did not follow him, but sat for a while, until she felt the curious stares of onlookers and could no longer ignore. When she uncovered her face, it was serene again, and she pushed to her feet as though nothing had happened before turning toward her common room.
