Dru looked at Chase crossly, "No, he won't, we all know it, there's no reason for you to keep saying it." She looked away, chewing her lip. After a moment she looked back at him, "I'm sorry, I just don't want another....fight," she finished lamely, they couldn't exactly fight, neither had their wand, but she wanted them to just shut up.

Emilian glared over at Chase, "Yes, yes, listen to your girlfriend, she has some sense." He turned his head and looked up at Adara, knowing that she had answered the question differently than he had intended. "Adara....." he trailed off, he wanted to talk to her, so badly, but he could feel the presence of Chase and Dru, and it distracted him. He lowered his voice, "In that classroom, I stopped because you asked me to, not because of the bet." He had pushed himself up slightly but fell back with the pain ripping through his chest. Back at the lake he had wanted to tell her, but he had been rather rudely interrupted before he had had a chance.

Adara bit her lip and moved hesitantly at Emilian's pain, but stopped herself from touching him. Touch was distraction. It was a reminder of things she couldn't be certain of. "How can I believe you?" she asked, tears forming in her eyes as she smoothed Emilian's hair off his brow.

Chase was already angry--furious, truth be told--and Emilian's jab didn't help any. Added to that, he was in a great deal of pain, and his self-control was nonexistent. Chase gritted his teeth as he moved his good arm to reach for the nearest weapon, which happened to be a pillow. Still, it was satisfying to lob it at Emilian's head, and well worth the pain and effort.

Dru grabbed Chase's arm, "You're acting like a baby, come on." She wanted to pull him down, but knew that it would pain him. "You're going to hurt yourself." She felt useless, and glanced up at Adara apologetically, only to see the other girl near tears. Her eyes fell back to Chase, she could feel the anger coming from him.

"Trust me..." his answer was weak, and his eyes pleaded with her, she had trusted him and he had betrayed that trust. Just then a pillow, of all things, a pillow, flew at him from Chase's direction. Emilian grabbed it and threw it on the floor, every one of his rips and tears becoming very obvious with the movement. "I swear if you don't cut the nuts out..." he trailed off and fell back onto the bed again, the anger in his face stretching the gash and the tension in his hand and chest hurt just as bad. If he had to deal with both Chase and Adara, the emotions, much longer, he'd explode.

Chase growled as his focal point was cut off, leaving only a wall of curtain for him to glare at. He clenched his teeth and shifted against the mattress in an attempt to make himself comfortable, but only succeeded in reminding himself that he no longer had a pillow. Chase didn't look at Dru. She'd disapproved of everything he'd done since he'd stopped beside the lake, and he didn't want to see it on her face, didn't want to see the loathing that he expected.

Dru walked around the bed silently and bent, picking up the pillow. "Do you see why I didn't want you to do that?" she asked, picking at the edge of the pillow and avoiding his eyes. She sighed and slid the pillow gently under his head before pulling up a chair to sit beside him. "If you had listened to me, you wouldn't be in a hospital bed with gashes all over you." Dru forced the idea that the thing had been her fault to the back of her mind, but what if, what if she hadn't distracted him? Her eyes fell to his shoulder. Would it still be intact?

And there was the I-told-you-so he'd been waiting for. Chase continued to fume, even as Dru propped his head back onto the pillow. He didn't say anything, didn't trust himself not to continue to rage uselessly. And he knew it was useless. He felt as though he'd tried, but it wasn't enough to make up for the failure, not with Emilian just as cocky as he'd been before the fight.

Dru looked away from him, he was so angry, she could feel it. She put her hands on the bed, picking absentmindedly at the sheet, watching her hands. "I don't blame you for being mad, you know that, right?" She didn't feel angry with him for his emotions, the fact that he hadn't listened to her made her mad, the way he was acting aggravated her, but she wasn't holding his anger against him.

Chase actually turned to look at Dru, somewhat surprised by her actually validating at least part of what he was going through. His gaze, dark now that his fuel source had been taken away, rested on Dru. "I know it was stupid," he said at last. It was a small admission, but he supposed he owed her at least that much.

Dru didn't look up at him, knowing that if she did he would either see more I-told-you-sos or the fact that he had scared her in her eyes. She had been fine until he had grabbed her and after...there had been so much blood. Even at the attack she didn't remember so much. "Are you going to go after him again?" she asked him, staring down at the sheet between her fingers.

Chase looked away again, his mind trying to look to the future, putting together scenarios. "I don't know." He would wait and see first. He wanted to know if the Headmistress would do something, but there was also Adara's seemingly blind devotion. Was the girl stupid? Or was Chase missing something? Everyone seemed to defend Emilian, even Vannah, who by all accounts had been hurt the worst. He didn't know if he could let go.
Chase looked back at Dru, trying to determine the look on her face, only partially visible. Through all the crap he'd done, everything, she was still here. For now, at least. "Why do people ignore things like he's done?" He didn't ask out of anger, or a desire to keep stirring things up, but out of a genuine need to understand. "How...I mean, before you, before we got the Headmistress into it," assuming the Headmistress actually did something, "how can they just pretend it didn't happen?" Again, the irony missed Chase entirely; he never once wondered how Dru had moved past the things that he had done.

Dru was silent for a few long seconds, trying to figure out how to say it. "I think a lot of people didn't know about him. Most of the ones that knew were just silent in hopes that the problem would just go away, even if they knew it wouldn't happen." She had been one of those, if you ignore it, then it's not there, it'll fade away. Her eyes looked up and met his, "Then there were a couple, like Adara," she gestured her head towards the curtain. "Who believe in the basic good of people, that people can change."
She looked away from him. Dru had always believed in the good of people, but it seemed like everyone she trusted betrayed her. Her hands stilled on the sheet as she forced those thoughts from her mind, because they were leading into dangerous territory and bringing up old doubts.
