"Right," Gabby said, she felt so achy all over, but then she had jsut fallen off her broom and slammed into the hard ground at the Quidditch pitch. Then Gabby realized that Ryan hadn't been there, yet he was here now. "How did you know I was here?" she asked, slightly confused, she would have thought that he would be resting from his own accident.

Ryan looked at her "I was going out to take a few laps around the pitch when you hit the ground. I carried you up here and got the nurse."

"So you saw me fall?" Gabby asked. ~It must have been terrible,~ Gabby thought, ~to see me fall.~ Gabby had been thinking this and was unaware she had spoken out loud.

Gabby closed her eyes, grabbing Ryan's hand as she did. It must have been awful for Ryan. Yesterday she had watched him protect her, but he had done it conciously knowing that he would get hurt. Then earlier he had just watched Gabby helplessly as she fell to the ground, without being able to stop it. Tears seeped from under Gabby's eyelids and she clutched at his hand.

Ryan held Gabby's hand and kissed her cheek "Don't cry baby. Everything is ok now."

Gabby burried her head in Ryan's shoulder, starting to softly sob. She knew that for now, everything was over, but what about tomorrow, of next week? Gabby was just confused and scared and overwhelmed with love for Ryan. Gabby then realised that her birthday had passed unnoticed, she was now 15 but it hadn't been celebrated. Gabby didn't care, Ryan was much more important and she had chosen to look after him instead of talking about her birthday.

Gabby continued to sob. But then after a while, her shoulders relaxed and her breath evened. Gabby felt her heart slow down and only then realised it had been hammering in her chest. She took deep breaths and leaned away from Ryan, sinking back into her pillows and closing her eyes. They felt raw from all the crying and her throat felt dry. Gabby reached off and carefully sipped at her water. Her hand was shaking a little, giving away the fact that she was still unsteady and upset.

Ryan held Gabby's hand "Everything is ok now baby. Its all over."

Gabby relaxed and set her cup down on the side. She took Ryan's hands in hers and sighed. "I know sweetie, I know." Gabby smiled at him. He had such an amazing effect on her. A moment ago she had been clutched by fear and dread and now she felt relaxed and safe. "I feel better too," she added to reassure him.

Gabby sat up. "I need to leave," she said. Gabby suddenly felt as if the hospital wing was too confining. she wanted to be out in the fresh, clear air. "I want to go down to the lake." Gabby continued she wanted the tranquility that it always gave her as she needed to sort her hear out. "You don't have to come if you don't want to." Gabby added quietly.
