[Annabelle Hennessy]

"I, I can't." She stammered. "I'm sorry..." Annabelle said under her breath as she took a step back before turning away and fleeing down the nearest row of books. She felt so stupid, sure that she was being irrational and making something out of nothing. But she couldn't control her gut instincts. Her reactions were not to Chase, but to the situations and her memories that had suddenly resurfaced. She knew that she couldn't run from guys forever, that she didn't want to run, but she just couldn't stop herself.

Chase watched Annabelle go, but didn't follow her. She'd only run faster if he did. He'd just wait, and resume his pursuit next time he ran into her. After a moment, he abandoned the books on the table and left the library.
