Emilian nodded, it really being the only thing he could trust himself to do with the confusion reigning in his mind. After a few moments he turned, angry at himself, and picked up their shirts, handing hers to her before pulling his own on.

Adara slipped gratefully into her shirt, smoothing it down as she looked up at Emilian. "Did I not please you?" she asked, her brows creasing slightly at the tension she could see in him. "Did I do something wrong?" She had tried so hard to please him, even when she was afraid to do so, and though her curiosity was satisfied for now, she would not leave him unhappy.

Emilian looked down at her, searching her eyes, before answering, "You've done nothing wrong." He walked to the door, laying his hand on the handle. He opened his mouth as though to speak, but closed it, shaking his head lightly.

Adara watched Emilian closely, for once trying to determine the truth of his words. She could think of nothing to say that would help him if he would not tell her, and she would not press him. Adara stepped up beside Emilian and lifted her hand to his face, tracing his jaw in an echo of the gesture she liked so much. "Thank you," she said again.

Emilian chewed his cheek as he reached up and took her hand, bowing his head and kissing her knuckles. He had the feeling that she would understand it as a gesture of both welcome and thanks. He walked out of the room, not taking a look back as he went down the corridor.

Adara watched Emilian until he had moved out of her sight, then hurried out of the classroom to gather her fallen books. When she straightened, she was sure that the heat of her cheeks would give away her thoughts as she headed the opposite way from Emilian.
