Liam walked into the great hall and saw the many people within it. He was sure glad he put on his false arm today. He walked ot the table and sat next to the Gryffindors that were talking about quidditch. He picked out different foods, yet was not sure if he could finish it. He slowly ate, staying quiet if possible.

Gabby noticed a new boy slide into one of the seats near them out of the corner of her eye and she turned to him, a friendly smile in place. "Hi, I'm Gabby, it's nice to meet you and welcome to Hogwarts" she said pleasantly, trying to make him feel welcome. "What's your name?" she asked gently, hoping he wasn't terribly shy.

Liam flinched very very slightly at Gabby greeting him. He was not expecting it, so that is what surprised him. He smiled to be friendly and turned to her. "W-Well met....Gabby...My name....is Liam." he said, finding it difficult to speak english still.

Gabby smiled at Liam, ignoring his slight difficulty because she knew that if she brought it up it could make it worse. "Nice to meet you Liam. What year are you in?" she asked politely, picking up her glass to sip her pumpkin juice. The question was normally closely followed by 'what house are you in?' but it was obvious this time so Gabby just waited patiently for an answer, giving Liam the time he might need.

"Nice to...meet you too.." he said, smiling a little. He then heard her question about what year he was in. "f..fi...fif.." Liam tried to say fifth, but he had alot of difficulty saying it as he never really had experience with words such as first, second, ect. He then had a bit of a look as if saying 'screw it' and raised five fingers. His face a slight shade of pink in embarassment.

Gabby nodded, feeling slightly sorry for him. "I'm a fourth year" she said. "Do you like it here?" she asked as the pile of food on her plate began to decrease steadily. She had the distinct feeling that Liam wasn't used to english, and was struggling slightly with it. But Gabby knew that with a little time he would probably be fine.

Liam had drank some pumpkin juice and seemed to like it. As he ate, it seemed to be that he had picked only enough to fill him as there did not seem to be alot. He then heard her question and decided to lie a little. "I do...It is a nice..place to be..It's as if you can...just be another person.." he said, smiling a bit. He did like it, that was true, but he did not believe he could change his entire person.

Kadie walked into the great hall, hardly noticing those sitting there. But then, she'd become an entirely different person after Kevin died. She missed the way Kevin had sat beside her. She missed everything. It had been really hard to come back to Hogwarts last year, but she'd done it. This year, seemed if at all possible, harder. She sat down and got some food. She started to eat, taking her time.
She couldn't help but overhear the last bit of Gabby and Liam's conversation. She looked briefly at him wondering if he believed that he could be a different person. Sure, she was now known as the Snow Queen, but that was all it was, a mask really. She was still the same girl that she'd been, only a lot more bitter.
But, she'd fooled everyone around her, or so it seemed. Guys knew to stay away from her, or at least, they mostly did. Most people knew that she was not a girl to mess with, and she liked to keep it that way. Her attention turned back to her food in her usual anti-social manner. She'd been very popular at one time, and she still had many friends. But since Kev's death, she had been pushing people away, and never let anyone in very far.
Her usual Snow-Queen like expression was on her face as she ocassionally would glance at those around her, not really seeing them.
