Dare was used to taking stairs two or three at a time. His legs were so long that taking them one at a time felt ridiculous. There was the fact that he'd told Michael he'd hurry, that he had an uncomfortable amount of money in his pocket--Michael's pocket--and, not least, that he hadn't had any real sleep since the night before last, and it was almost noon now. Therefore, it should have come as no surprise when he knocked into a cloaked figure at the bottom of the stairs, toppling to land hard chest-to-chest.

Markise didn't even see what hit him. His cloak had twisted around so that his vision was completely blocked, and that was the least of his problems. His headache was back full force, and all the air had been knocked out of him by a large, firm body. Markise lay dazed for a moment before anything other than pain flashed through his mind. Then, he realized that body felt familiar. "Dare?" Markise reached up to tug at his hood, trying to move it.

Ariel had glanced around the room, only to look back at a sound to see some blond laying on top of Markise. His eyes narrowed. He had not just worked the whole night just to have Markise underneath someone else. It didn't help matters any when he heard Markise speak. That made him pause, it certainly didn't look like any Dare Ariel knew.

Dare blinked at hearing his name. "Markise?" It was impossible, but no, as he tugged that black hood back out of the way, it was Markise. In full club regalia. Dare shifted, moving to sit beside Markise, still stunned. It was no less of a shock when he saw another cloaked figure standing nearby. Ariel Logan, he could see his face under the hood from this angle. "What are you doing here?" he asked Markise, though he could guess at part of the story. But why were they here so late? Had they stayed out all night? Did they have a room here? Dare did not want to think about that.

Markise blinked, taking some time to look him over, to be sure this really was Dare. He pushed awkwardly to sit and pulled his hood back up over his hair. The clothes were different, the hair and the eyes, but everything else was the same. "Why are you dressed like your mother?" he hissed, trying to right his brain. "God, I hope this isn't some freaky fetish you've picked up." He wouldn't at all believe it if Dare told him it was true, but still... it was disturbing.

Ariel couldn't help the glare that was aimed directly at the odd looking Dare. He wrinkled his nose and crossed his arms as he resisted the urge to pull Markise up and leave. Markise and Dare were friends, however much Dare and Ariel didn't get along, and so Ariel decided to just suck it up and focus on the money in his pocket and on the promise of sleep later on.

Dare's nose wrinkled at that suggestion. "You're a twisted bastard sometimes, you know that?" He knew Markise had been teasing, and he was teasing back, in a way. His sense of humor was dead though, and that was the best he could do. Dare stood up and offered Markise his hand. His gaze flicked toward Ariel, who he didn't trust in the least, then back to Markise, giving him a meaningful look. He wasn't about to explain in company. "I'm not here," is all he said. "You never saw me here, I'm back at school for all you know.

Markise's eyes widened at that. What was going on? He pulled his cloak tighter around himself. This whole day was one impossibility after another. "So if you're not here, then where aren't you going?" Markise asked. He hadn't forgotten Ariel, but his mind wasn't working on more than one level at a time, and right now, that level was finding out what the hell was going on with Dare.

Ariel shifted on his feet and sighed heavily, and if he wasn't so against Dare he would have just said he would be back and left to go to Gringotts himself. He only absently wondered what Dare's problem was and why he was dressed so differently from every other time Ariel had seen him. Why was he in the Leaky Cauldron, anyway?

Dare's jaw tightened and he glanced at Ariel again. They already knew he was here, so he didn't figure it would do any more damage to tell them where he was going. "Grey's potion shop and probably a robe shop," he said. Michael would need his pants back sooner or later, and his shirt as well. Dare would be perfectly happy burning his own. "Were you going anywhere?" Dare asked, eying Markise. Or were you coming back? the look said. Dare didn't trust Ariel, didn't like him, and didn't like how much Markise was focusing on him.

Markise didn't want to look at Dare when he could tell that Dare would see right through him. "Just to the bank, then back to school, right?" Markise glanced back at Ariel for confirmation, using that excuse to break eye contact and divert his gaze elsewhere. Dare already knew that Markise had been clubbing, had probably put most of it together by now. He didn't need to know the details, though. Especially when Markise couldn't quite recall them himself.

"That was the plan," Ariel said, keeping his eyes locked on Dare. He was starting to see the similarities between this strange Dare and the one he was used to seeing, probably would have seen them earlier but for his sleep deprived mind. "I, for one, was looking forward to getting some sleep," he said without thinking, only realizing the implications after he said it, and then his eyes only sparkled faintly.

Dare's eyes narrowed slightly, but he forced himself to ignore Logan's bait. Markise had just told him they were going back to the school, hadn't he? "Mind if I walk with you guys? Just as far as the potions shop." As if he hadn't transfigured enough, Soren would be looking for two boys, not three. "You'd be helping me out." He'd do the rest on his own without question, but he'd take all the cover he could get. "I'd really like to get going." He wanted to get this over with and get back up to Michael.

Markise looked back at Ariel over his shoulder, his eyes pleading. Dare had to know that he'd agree, and Markise didn't actually need to ask Ariel, but Ariel had been so good to him today that he hoped just this one more thing wouldn't be too much. It was just as far as the potions shop, not that Markise knew where that was. It had to be close, though.

Ariel sighed and looked away, out over the bar. He nodded though, and sighed again as he brought his eyes back to Markise and Dare. "Whatever, just as long as we hurry it up."
At the bar a robed figure leaned over the counter, a confident smile on his face as he caught Tom's attention. "You wouldn't happen to have seen a redhead and a kid with all kinds of colors in his hair go through here, would you?" he asked, his voice a little louder than strictly necessary, as though hoping that if Tom couldn't help him then someone else could.
