The closest to primping that Castiel had gotten when he'd heard the word snow was the arrangement of his scarf around his neck. He didn't even spare the time for a cursory brush of his hair before topping it with a hat; he could deal with hat hair later, when there wasn't snow outside.
He went into a power walk every time he hit an empty corridor, went down stairs so fast that he thought he'd trip, and went a little breathless when he and Marius stood in front of the open doors, looking out over pure white lawns. It took him a moment to really understand what he was seeing. It didn't fall like rain, it just kind of drifted around, though there was a ton of it. Some part of him had thought it looked like bits of paper, but it moved so slowly, it was unreal. He reached for Castiel's hand with his own.
"Pinch me, I've got to be dreaming," he said. Oh, it was beautiful.

Mari stared, wide eyed, at the snow, none of it disturbed by foot prints yet. It was perfect. The view distracted him for now from the biting cold that came in and enveloped them once the door to the castle was closed. "Ditto," was all he could think of to say. Then, after some long moments of being completely unable to move, his hand tightened around Castiel's and he pulled, going down the steps at what was likely too fast a pace for the fresh snow so they could get to the lawns.

Castiel let out a squeak of surprise as he leapt to keep up, shoes sliding a bit, sudden sharp cold getting into his shoes, somehow. Oh, but the way it moved was amazing! It moved like sand, but the ground under it didn't, and it crunched, and it puffed up around his ankles!
"I can see my breath, Mari!" he exclaimed. It came out in clouds! There was so much everything! Castiel couldn't help grinning delightedly.

Mari laughed and released Castiel's hand to reach down and scoop up snow in both of his. It was cold, but he didn't want to drop it, not immediately. He moved his thumbs through the drift in his hand, grinning at the oddity of it. It was so soft, like he was holding cold crumbly cotton. "This is almost as cool as being in the magazine," he said, then grinned broadly as he tossed his handfuls of snow up into the air and watched it fall back to the ground.

Castiel laughed and half squatted to poke at the perfect layer of snow in front of him, then laughed again when he left a perfect fingerprint shape. "Look at this!" He shifted to write his name in the snow, and though it didn't work quite as he'd expected, it was legible. Then he looked back at their mess of a trail. He wondered if you could walk on top of it. Stuff went on top of the snow, right?

Mari was more interested in building things from the snow than he was in destroying it. It was a lot of fun to plop down on his knees and scoop the snow into a mountain in front of him. How it was supposed to be formed into the shape of a snowman, he wasn't quite sure, but a pile had to be the start, right? "We so need a camera," he said. A camera would be perfect.
